Ages 2 to 5 Surface

The main surface of the 2 to 5 section is made of wood chips, but some areas are pour in place (PIP) rubber. The wood chips are overall small and compact. In our photos, the wood chips are wet, as it had rained the day before. Therefore, they may be less compact on dry days. There are no large areas that create an unexpected change in surface. However, there are some twigs that are mixed into the wood chips. In the photos below, these are especially visible around the boat.

The PIP rubber surrounds swings 1 and climber 1. Read the 5 to 12 surface section for information on this type of surface. There are no large cracks in the PIP rubber that covers sections of the 2 to 5 area.

Climbers and Swings

The climbers both require steps or ladders to get up. There are no slides other than those connected to the climber. Both climbers have railings on the steps and around the top area. The steps are about 3.5ft wide. The slide on the 2 to 5 playground is a tunnel. The climber 1 photo shows the top of this tunnel. It is about 3ft high and 2.5ft wide. The slides on the 5 to 12 climber do not have a tunnel. They are open and about 2ft wide. On both climbers, the slides drop less than 6in from the end of the slide to the surface.

There are two swings in the 2 to 5 area. Both are baby and toddler bucket swings, as seen in the swings 1 photo. These swings hang about 2ft above the ground. There are two swings in the 5 to 12 area. Both of which are belt swings, as seen in the swings 2 photo. These swings hang about 1.5ft above the ground. There are no other swings available.

Ages 5 to 12 Surface

The surface of the 5 to 12 section is made of pour in place (PIP) rubber. This surface is stable, but it does have a little bit of a bounce to it. There are no seams between the colors or around the equipment. The surface is mainly consistent and predictable. There are few small cracks, along with woodchips carried over from the 2 to 5 section. You can see these in the phots of swings 2, climber 2, and the slides. There is one section of larger cracks, shown in the PIP rubber photo. These cracks were still flat on the surface. They did not move, flip, or fold as we walked over them.

Other Equipment

The playground consists of two climbers, two swing sets, one sensory area, a play boat, a play house, two log tunnels, and two tables.

The sensory area has various equipment that can be reached from 1ft above the wood chips, up to 3ft above the woodchips. See the sensory area photo for details of the equipment.

The play boat sits about 1.5ft high. It is around 3ft wide and 6ft long. As shown in the photo, it does get filled with water after rain, and it does not drain quickly.

The play house is about 4ft wide and 6ft long. The entrances are about 4.5ft high and 3ft wide.

The log tunnels are narrow. They are about the same size, around 2.5ft wide and 2.5ft high. They sit on ground level.

The tables have stools that are about 2ft high with about 1ft diameter. Neither have back rests. Table 1 is a flat surface, with about a 4ft diameter. Table 2 is rounded at the top, as are its stools.
